Who were the prophets of the Bible?

A prophet was someone who spoke God's word to the people, often beginning with "Thus saith the LORD." Moses was a prophet whom the Lord knew face to face (Deuteronomy 34:10). Samuel was called by name as a boy in the temple (1 Samuel 3:10), and Nathan confronted King David with "Thou art the man" (2 Samuel 12:7). Elijah and Elisha did mighty works in Israel. Isaiah answered God's call, "Here am I; send me" (Isaiah 6:8), and Jeremiah was told he had been chosen before he was born (Jeremiah 1:5).

The quiz also covers Ezekiel, Daniel, Jonah and the shorter prophetic books. In the New Testament there are Anna the prophetess (Luke 2:36), John the Baptist, Agabus (Acts 11:28) and the four daughters of Philip (Acts 21:9). Jesus also warned against false prophets (Matthew 7:15).
